Maureen FitzSimons' early achievements in performing arts (now known as Maureen O'Hara), would put her in America's eyes, into the class of child prodigies. For a child with Irish background, surrounded by talented parents and a loving family, these were very natural traits. Maureen was born in Ranelagh which was a suburb in Dublin the capital of Ireland on the 17th of August 1920. Her mother, Marguerita Lilburn FitzSimons, was a talented contralto. Charles FitzSimons was a successful businessman from Dublin who also owned a piece of the Irish Shamrock Rovers soccer team. Maureen FitzSimons is the 2nd child from Charles FitzSimons. Peggy FitzSimons, Florrie Fitzsimons Charles B. Fitzsimons Margot Fitzsimons rounded out this amazing family. Maureen did well as a sporty woman and participated in rough, competitive sports when she was a young. Her ability to perform was a perfect complement to her passion for athletics. As a result, she was awarded almost all of the Feis Awards for dramatic and acting in her home country. When she was in her 14th year she joined the Abbey Theater to follow her aspirations and pursue studies in the classical theater and operatic singing.
